Words from director Seth Alan Jacobs on the creation of Stony Hollow:
The film began production on April 2nd, 2021. It only took about a week to make but it was a very busy week. I was inspired to create this film because I wanted something that locals would be able to relate to and the idea of implementing urban legend or paranormal into horror adaptations is something I find fascinating and would like to continue to explore as an independent filmmaker. Stony Hollow is one of the most haunted places in Iowa, and everyone in Burlington, Iowa knows to stay away from there! After releasing my horror short "Embody the Homicide" which was selected and screened at the Snake Alley Festival of Film in Burlington, Iowa in 2019, I wanted to do something that had some value to Iowans specifically that they'd appreciate, and wanted to dabble more into the aspect of paranormal/urban legend. What made the idea of Stony Hollow even better, was that some of the story was true. There really was a young woman named Lucinda from the 1800s who died from falling/jumping off one of the cliffs on Stony Hollow Road. Whether it was suicide or an accident, that part is true. So it was nice to create something that was at least inspired by some true events. It only made sense for there to finally be a story based off of what is known to be one of Iowa's most haunted places!
...and yes, we really did film this at the real Stony Hollow Road.
